Yes, some of you on my facebook would have seen that I ended up at the wrong airport on Sunday. Only you Matt! Only you! I can't even think of an excuse for my stupidity. I just remember looking up at the 'departures' board and not seeing my flight on there and my heart stopping LOL. I looked at the time (it was about 5am) and my flight was at 8:20am, and I was trying to work out if I could get back to Brisbane in time to make the flight. If it was any other airline, I might have been able to, but unfortunately I had booked with Tiger and there was no way I was going to make the hour cut-off for checking in. I realised my only option was to see what flights were available from where I was, and I cringed at the thought of how much the costs would be for a flight three hours out from when I'd booked it lol.
I checked all the sites. Most were well over $200. I saw the Jetstar had a $120 option. "Book it" I told myself. I hated wasting the money, but if I didn't, I would have just been depressed as a trudged my pathetic arse all the way back to Brisbane haha. Wow, how stupid could I be? I was flying OUT from Brisbane, but flying back INto the Goldie, and obviously I had just assumed I'd booked the airport that is generally cheaper without double-checking. Oh well, all an experience right?
I ended up getting here a half hour earlier than I would have originally, and the flight was rather pleasant. I was actually perving on a cute guy in the terminal and turns out my seat was right next to his. Uncanny! Unfortunately for me (and probably fortunately for him), I slept for most of the flight, as I hadn't slept all the previous night since I'd finished work at midnight.
My friend picked me up from the airport and it was lovely to see him again. We got back to his apartment and I was greeted by an excited Hugo. He was just off to take him to get shaved. I couldn't believe how different he looked when they got back! My friend said he reckons he looks like a rat haha.
I'm actually writing this on my final day here. My flight back home is tomorrow. I've had a pretty good time here.
I'm writing this because my friend has gone out to a conference. Yesterday, I didn't even leave the apartment! My arse was actually sore from having either laid on it or sitting on it the ENTIRE day, because he was out at work and if I left the apartment, that meant I had no access back into it as he has the keys. So I house-sitted along with Hugo haha.
Hugo's been an absolute gem this time around. I'm not sure if he feels vulnerable since he's been shaved or what, but he's been really cuddly. I've been sneaking him treats when his owner isn't looking, so he loves me. I got busted this morning though cos my friend heard me putting the liver strips into his bowl. Dammit! Haha. I got some adorable photos on my Instagram that some of you may have seen. I'm "pfefz" on there if anyone wants to follow :P
This was me on the train when I left Brizzy... going in the wrong direction LOL. Oh well, I was happy cos i was unbeknownst to that fact :P

Me and Hugo. Compare him now to the previous entry's pic haha.

I instagram filtered this one because it's from my friend's phone, and I tried to make it look edgyish. it still looks lame but people seem to like it. He litereally sat on my lap for an entire two hour movie. It was so cute when he could have sat anywhere!

I was trying to get a pic of him, but he didn't like the brightness of the flash on my camera.

I took some pics in Hype Park. I prefer this one to the one where I'm smiling cos I think I look awkward as fuck. I sooooooo need a haircut! Hahaha.

Haha!

This is what the weather is like pretty much the entire time I have been here.

Until today! My friend and I went up onto his rooftop where there is a pool and sun-baked for a little while. I didn't overdo it because I didn't have sunscreen on...

...but later on I took advantage of the sun and my friend was kind enough to drop me off at Bondi beach! I managed to make my way back after walking to the shopping centre and then catching a train back, which got me back in no time at all really. Stunned at how old the trains are here compared to the ones in my city.
Bondi! I walked right around to the rocks on the far side - something I hadn't done before, but I've been to that beach quite a few times now. Such a popular beach, even on a weekday.

When I was at the shopping centre, this voice calls out 'Matt!'. The first time I ignored it, as I tend to do in a foreign city because, let's face it, who's gunna know me here? I responded to the second call-out and noticed it was a guy I used to work with...god must be at least 6 years ago now... back in QLD. He'd moved between here and home a few times but is definitely a Sydney boy. I don't think I could live here. I dunno what it is. Melbourne maybe, but Sydney just doesn't feel right for me long-term, ya know? Anyway, it was good to see him.
I understand that I have a few friends or people I know who now live in Sydney that I should probably catch up with, such as both Josh's etc, but we're not exactly close buddies, ya know? Not like with my friend anyway. I know they were both my house-mates and I probably get along with one Josh more than the other, but it doesn't mean we hit it off as besties. I've never been confident with just ringing up people I haven't seen in ages and being like 'Hey wanna grab coffee?' It's an issue within myself that I hope I can learn to get over, over time. I do love them however and justify my reasoning in my mind - ergh I'm rambling.
Let's see if I can make it to the correct airport tomorrow morning :P
