Since I updated my apps using my friend's wifi, my Simpsons Tapped Out game no longer logs in :( I hate when apps do that. Grindr did it a lot back in the day, but for some reason has really improved, although that was also probably due to a shitty phone and service provider. This time I know it's the apps fault, not only through my own experience (or rather, non-experience) of it, but pretty much all of the reviews on the Play Store are saying that people have lost their progress etc. I had a slight glimmer of hope when it started downloading some updates tonight (I keep periodically checking it to see if it'll log me in, like a desperate asshole) but once again, it just logged me straight out of the app back to the homescreen. Ironically, SongPop stopped working after the last update, but now has started working again. You win some, you lose some :P
Oh well, I guess it'll keep me from wasting time on it like I usually do haha.
There was a segment on TV today talking about how much screen-time children should have during their day. As we all know, we are surrounded by screens these days, and it crosses my mind quite often that I am really over-doing it. I mean, REALLY overdoing it. They said on the TV that children between 0 and 2 should not be having any screen time at all (umm, yes, I figure that's pretty much common sense). Then they say children between 2 and 5 should be having no more than 1 hour per day. Children over 5 should not be having any more than 2 hours per day of screen-time. Screen-time means all screens - computers, TV, phones... I don't really see why a 5 year old needs a phone anyway, but a lot of them seem to have them! Anyway, my point is me. I don't even want to know how many hours a day I spend looking at a form of screen. I am just thankful I don't have a job where I look at a screen, because if I did, I reckon I'd be looking at them at an alarming amount of time! I already feel like I look at them an alarming amount of time, between writing here, browsing facebook WAAAAY too much and, god, don't even get me started on looking at my phone or watching TV (either at mine or friend's places). I'm starting to feel like I should set myself an intervention. I'm going to be 40 before I know it, and will have spent most of my life looking at some form of screen. I don't particularly want to be on my death bed, and all that's coming back to me is a world symbol with a number in the corner of it...
Pretty depressing.
Thankfully my job is physical and I do go to the gym and hang out with friends, but I don't have enough close friends to really tear me away from what I do in my boredom hours, which is a lot. I've always been comfortable with my own company, and a large part of that involves my electronic devices. Even when i spilled tea all over my laptop a few months ago, I was trying to improvise by using my tablet to do what I used to, even hooking up a bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth mouse to it so I could mimic laptop movements. Of course that didn't work that same, but maybe it shows I have a problem, or an addiction even? They say that social media is actually causing more harm than good and encouraging anti-social behaviour. Yeah, I'd go along with that, in a lot of ways.
In an ideal world, where I had a full-time day job and my night job, I'm sure things would be different. I'd probably be too tired to sit online all day, and I'd be more productive because I'd want to fit gym in between insane work hours. But right at this stage at least, I don't have insane work hours. Inevitably that will change at some point in time and maybe then, this entry won't even be applicable?
I tend to sleep in really late, because I go to bed really late. A good night for me is getting to sleep around 3am, as I finish at midnight or 1am. If I'm still awake when the sun comes up, I feel quite bad about myself and then I end up waking up even later than the late time I usually wake up. It's not unusual for me to be getting out of bed, eating breakfast at 1pm or 2pm. I've even had breakfast at 4pm once and that wasn't that long ago and I remember thinking that this was ridiculous, as I'd wasted the entire daylight hours and the sun was going down in around two hours. I even forced myself to go outside, just so that I could stand in the remaining remnants of the sunlight on the footpath around the corner. It was lovely.
It's strange being a nightshifter sometimes, but I do look at my current situation and see it as much better than it was. Finishing at midnight or 1am is much healthier than it was when I finished at 5am. However, when I did that, I was usually awake until midday and it was only then that I went to sleep. Now I tend to wake up around then instead, but it is nice to sleep some of the darkness hours now at least. That's how I look at it.
So where's the happy medium when it comes to screen-time? i do so much of my leisurely stuff and hobbies online. I tend to only have about four websites I look at often, and occasionally find myself refreshing the page because nothing new has come up haha. Does anyone else do this? Is it just me? Has technology taken over?
Having said that, yesterday, I got myself out of the house in the late afternoon and I took my bag down to the park (like I had planned to last week). I set up a towel on the grass, and I got out my book and read a fair bit more of it. That was nice. I was with nature. Mind you, that's the park a girl got killed in a few months back, so there weren't that many people walking through it, but a couple were. It started to get cold way too quickly though and I put my jacket on for a little while, but then headed back home. It was only down the road, so it wasn't far.
I want to do that more often. Just get a really nice day outside on a day off and go and read or even just sit. When I'm at gym, I always leave my phone in my gym bag in a locker. But I still feel I waste way too much time and feel I would get bored without my security blanket technology.
Ow. Wow. I'm not sure what reaction or emotion I should be typing here.
I think that's the first time in a long time I've gone out (well, that too) where I didn't even go on a dancefloor, or even in any of the main rooms for most of the night! I went clubbing, but didn't even hear much music haha! Reason being was I met up with my friend there, and we spent the whole night in the smokers area. It was the first place I looked when I arrived, and of course, there she was! :)
I was introduced to her friend, who wasn't what I expected from the little I knew about him, but still, by the end of the night, great guy.
When I first got there (sidebar: I do apologise - pretty sure I'm still drunk even the next day writing this haha), my old housemate spotted me! I haven't seen him in ages! Later on in the smokers area, someone came up behind me and covered my eyes. He was like, 'Guess who?' and also said something else vague as a guess to whom it was - my reaction being, 'honey, that could be anyone, not helping!' He uncovered my eyes and popped around so I could see him, and it was who I thought it was! Both still look amazing. I really do miss living with those boys :) It's such a different house here now compared to what it used to be!
So we pretty much had a table outside to ourselves for the entire night, chatting away about random stuff. I was sufficiently drunk after not long at all, and the drinks kept coming haha. My drink of choice for the night was a mix of Vodka lemon-lime and bitters during happy hour, moving onto Smirnoff blacks afterwards. Needless to say... yeah. The conversations we had were awesome, at least to me. I, of course however, was concerned about what she thought of me drunk, as she's never seen me like that before. She told me a few stories about guys she's been with and the crazy situations that she's been in with some of them, and I was literally laughing my arse off!
Of course, my night turned a little interesting when this drag queen first asked me, "Still like my legs?" (in reference to me saying she had great legs when I went there on members night earlier in the month) and I knew who she was after that question. Or, at least I think I do. I can never tell who drag queens are when they are in drag, obviously unless I know them well or have seen them, but since I've only ever seen her in drag (like now), I was having the following conversation with her.
Now this coud be a bit stetchy/all over the place, but I'll try to remember the gist.
Somehow she got onto saying something like, "Oh I've heard a lot about you - not all good." and because I'm used to shit like this spreading within the scene when I'm hardly even in it, I got her to sit down and tell me what she "knew" about me.
"Do you remember about four years ago... a guy named D ....?" she asked.
I seriously had to rack my brain. Nothing was coming to me. Who the fuck was D and how am I meant to remember four years ago!? She then asked, "Do you know T?"
Yes, I knew him!
"Yes, I know T, but I don't think I remember the first guy," I told her.
She then got out her phone and went through it, looking for his facebook or profile or something to show me. After a while she announces that he must have changed his name. I was like, "Well, seems like it, cos I don't remember anyone named that!"
Anyway, because I couldn't recall Mr-four-years-ago, she proceeded to tell me all about T.
Now, I wasn't concerned, because he's is not my type and we have never hooked up. All communication between us was friendly from my end, and flirtacious from his. She tells me that they were engaged for two years, but had broken up two weeks ago. *cue my jaw hitting the floor*. She showed me the very-impressive engagement ring on her wedding finger. "I still wear it," she announced, proudly smiling. Wow this shit was serious! I knew T had a long-term partner, but I never knew they were engaged. I also didn't know T's fiance was a drag queen haha! She was beautiful though, throughout telling me her story. She wasn't bitchy, wasn't catty, looked amazing and very good at her profession, I'll give her that. She proceeded to tell me what concerned her. "I went through his phone, and found all these messages between you and him." I still wasn't worried haha. T wasn't someone I would have flirted back with, at least not to the stage he did with me. T and I even caught up a few times back in the day, but even that woud've been nearly two years ago, so I'm assuming shortly after she and him got engaged to one another. We never hooked up though. I know T wanted to, but I just wasn't interested. In fact, I'm pretty sure that this 'room-mate' he used to talk to me about may have actually been her at the time, and maybe that gave off the impression to me that he was single, but then later on he used to talk about his new boyfriend all the time, so I have no idea where the tangents cross over in the storyline, nor do I really care. I still found the story fascinating though. All her problem with me was were the messages. I don't remember if I sent him a pic. He doesn't seem like someone I would send that to, but maybe I did, meh who cares, right? I don't even remember if he sent me any. But this D guy? I didn't even get any details - had I hooked up with this guy? I didn't even have a picture to put the name to. I can't think back four years. Was it the same situation? Was it just innocent flirting?
She then said she had to get ready to perform, but that it was lovely to talk to me. She said she knew I was a friendly person, but I still feel like the 'not always good' part of what she knew about me wasn't fully explained to me. Oh well, another day another time I suppose. People can think what they wanna think.
I met another friend of my friend - and it turns out he is best friends with someone whom I hooked up with from Fluffy a few years ago....who's house I snuck out of in the middle of the night....yeah. So cue him sitting at our table and joining in our group LOL! Normally a completely awkward situation, but because I'd had well over a few too many to drink, I didn't mind at all! In fact, being the youngest person at that table was strange and kinda cool for me. They were all early 30's. I'm 29. I remember asking at one point, "Is it true that you just stop giving a fuck after 30?" We had a good conversation about that for a while, and it was cool to get to know M a bit, Hilarious.
I was being bought drinks, and then it was my shout. I limited myself to not spending over $100 last night. I think I went though maybe about $70? That was with giving people money and not getting change back etc. I didn't really care. How often do I get to go out and let loose? Never right!? Sorry, this entry is written weird. I'm just trying to cram in what I know from last night. The good thing about me drinking is that I remember everything. I made them laugh by asking my girlfriend what a vagina felt like, quite loudly. Apparently I talk a lot when I'm drunk, which is exactly what I was conscious of (Being too annoying) but she said she was glad I was having fun. I assume that was code for, 'yes, you're annoying as fuck, but you're bearable' :P
I still can't believe I didn't even go into Crystals. Oh dear god, I just remembered a guy took a photo of us because he got out his phone and I was like, 'Oh you're the photo guy!' cos his facebook is all partying photos with random people. I can just imagine now how rat-shit I'm going to look in that photo next to a guy with perfect hair LOL! Oh Christ help me. C took the photo and I think I saw a glimpse of it. J was like, 'Don't worry, I'll edit it.' haha.
I ended up leaving after I realised it was almost 4:30am haha. I'd finished work at 10pm so to have 6 hours of conversation and alcohol is amazing for me. I hugged my friends goodbye. I somehow even remembered to grab my workbag from the cloakroom, and I somehow made my way home, via a Red Rooster stop-off. Greasy food was SO good right now. So yeah, anything fitness completely went out the window last night! Oh well, you only live once right?
I got home and just made it to the bathroom before throwing up. It was only a little bit though, maybe three times haha. I'm surprised I didn't throw up more, so I'm glad I stopped drinking when I did. I guess even now I know what my limit is. I reach a stage where I just can't drink anymore, and I had to refuse further drinks.
I drank heaps of water and slept with the water bottle and a bucket near my bed.
I didn't need them though. I woke up with a bit of a sore head, but it's pretty manageable.
I'm glad I ran into some of the boys last night, and I'm thankful to my friend for inviting me out. She's now met drunk-Matt. I've met drunk-her a few times, so I'm wondering what her reaction was to the table's being turned.
I definitely can't say that was a bad night.
Until next time. I have no idea how I'm meant to do assignment today. Maybe a bit later on :)
edit: Oh dear, the photo just showed up. Excuse me while I go dowse myself in petrol :)
Okay, it's now time to count down my Top 100 songs, based on averages. It's slightly different to the other chart! :)
100
BORN TO DIE - LANA DEL REY
WEEKS ON CHART = 13 WEEKS
HIGHEST POSITION = "17"
AVERAGE = 1.02
My only Lana Del Rey song to make the top 100, sneaking into the final spot.
I'm not the biggest fan of her stuff, but I did buy her album and quite liked a few of the tunes on it. A unique voice and a name-change I believe made her as famous as she is. I also listened to an interview with her on "JJJ" here in Australia, and was delighted at how easy-going and lighthearted her humour was. A fitting position for her in the 100th spot :)
99
PLAYMATE TO JESUS - AQUA
WEEKS ON CHART = 18
HIGHEST POSITION = "3"
AVERAGE = 1.02
In at 99 is Aqua's lone single, it seems! They released 'Like A Robot' but I don't think it did that well. This one I fell in love with in the earlier part of the year. Just awesome striking-instuments and a beat and Lena's voice, oh I loved it enough to give it a peak of #3 at one stage!
I also had the pleasure of seeing them perform live at The Hi-Fi far here in West-End, and I still believe it was the best concert I attended this year!!
98
GOOD NIGHT - REECE MASTIN
WEEKS ON CHART = 10
HIGHEST POSITION = "3"
AVERAGE = 1.12
Okay, I'll admit it. He was my favourite throughout the whole X-Factor Australia competition in 2011, and when he won it, I pretty much screamed like a schoolgirl :D
Despite him not being very popular with most others music tastes (at least here on the boards! :P ), he did well enough to score #98 with his debut single.
His good looks, his voice, his attitude, and the first "Lil Rocker" Australia has had for a long time. I'm proud to enter Reece in the year-end chart.
97
INTERNET FRIENDS (Psycho Bitch Remix) - KNIFE PARTY VS ORGAN DONORS
WEEKS ON CHART = 29
HIGHEST POSITION = "9"
AVERAGE = 1.16
:D :D
Ohhhhh this song was a TRUE gem for me this year!! If you know the original by Knife Party, and know much much of a club-hit it was here, you'll appreciate this remix by Organ Donors. I still laugh to it even now. It lasted a massive 29 weeks in my top 100 chart.
Well done Organ Donors/Knife Party - you score #97!
Lyric genius: "Sum the power of greyskull!"
"I'm going to cut off my fake tits and use them as headphones." :D :D :D
96
ROSEBUD - THE JEZEBELS
WEEKS ON CHART - 50
HIGHEST POSITION - "1"
AVERAGE = 1.21
As you can see, this song lasted 50 WEEKS in my chart this year, and still currently sits at #42 on the current chart at the time of this writing. That goes to show how much of a stunner this tune was for me this year.
I dunno what it is, or what caused it. The music just got me, ya know?
I would be in awe if I got the chance to see these guys perform live, especially this song.
Well done Jezebels, you score 2012's number 96 song :)
95
30 MINUTE LOVE AFFAIR - PALOMA FAITH
WEEKS ON CHART = 12
HIGHEST POSITION = "4"
AVERAGE = 1.25
I've been a Paloma fan ever since I heard the amazing "New York". This song struck a chord with me as the follow-up song, being the second song for her to enter my chart this year. I also saw her at the Queen's diamond jubilee celebrations helping with some cooking segment and she was quite the character :D Nothing to do with the music, but it still added to her charm.
The main thing about this song is I related to it SO MUCH!!! I seem to have a lot of "30 minute love affair"s :)
94
DANCE AGAIN - JENNIFER LOPEZ feat. PITBULL
WEEKS ON CHART = 10
HIGHEST POSITION = "12"
AVERAGE = 1.27
Now, this is a surprise. That's the thing about the average-chart, cos I never know what to expect. It spent two months in my chart this year and couldn't make top 10, yet scrapes in the top 100. In saying that, it's not a bad song! I wouldn't have charted it if I didn't like it :)
J-Lo's best effort since "On The Floor". She's actually only just left the country here after her first tour, but I didn't go and see her :D Friend's said she was amazing though!
And let's face it, she is a stunner.
93
STUPID MISTAKE - DARREN HAYES
WEEKS ON CHART = 10
HIGHEST POSITION = "6"
AVERAGE = 1.39
A top 10 hit this year for Darren, but another short-lived song in my chart this year.
He just has the voice of an angel, the falsetto gets me I suppose. And the fact he's a Brissy boy! I love to support to talented locals :)
The thing I love about Darren is all of his songs tell a really strong story, at least to me :)
92
SHUT UP AND KISS ME - REECE MASTIN
WEEKS ON CHART = 9
HIGHEST POSITION = "8"
AVERAGE = 1.4
Released in April, this was Reece's second single. Once again, rocker voice, my schoolgirl-crush :D You know how it goes! I can still sing along to this unashamed :P :P
91
I DON'T LIKE YOU - EVA SIMONS
WEEKS ON CHART = 9
HIGHEST POSITION = "4"
AVERAGE = 1.44
Another surprise to the Top 100 average chart! Eva Simons scores #91 for the year.
I think the thing I loved about this song the most was not only her wild-hair in the video, but the amount of different sounds produced throughout this song, and they all seemed to work!
90
HAND DANCE - LIQUID DIET
WEEKS ON CHART = 58
HIGHEST POSITION = "8"
AVERAGE = 1.5
:D I never expected that such a cheeky song about....well *ahem*... would do SO SO well on my chart. 58 weeks!!! That is just insane.
Despite being released in 2011, the song gained enough momentum during 2012 to claim the 90th position in my Averages chart :)
"It's all in your own hands!"
Such cheeky, clever lyrics and not a bad tune to go with it either :)
Lyric genius: "I'll just pitch a tent."
89
HOTTER THAN FIRE (LMC remix) - ERIC SAADE feat. DEV
WEEKS ON CHART = 40
HIGHEST POSITION = "2"
AVERAGE = 1.61
Two of the hottest artists around as far as I'm concerned, collaborating! :P Who could ask for more??
This song stuck around for a massive 40 weeks, and rightfully so. So catchy!!
88
BETTER THAN I KNOW MYSELF - ADAM LAMBERT
WEEKS ON CHART = 8
HIGHEST POSITION = 4
AVERAGE = 1.71
Released back in February, and exiting my top 100 by May, Adam still manages to score a top 100 Year End Average chart spot, in at #88!
87
BOOM BOOM - JUSTICE CREW
WEEKS ON CHART = 26
HIGHEST POSITION = "2"
AVERAGE = 1.73
Considering this group won X-Factor as a dance group back in 2010, they have released some catchy tunes in the music industry! I guess they figured they could show off their dance-skills via music videos, which is exactly what they do, and do well, in this release!
I loved it in 2012, and for it to last six months says a lot. Well done Justice Crew - they're in at #87
86
WEAK - MELANIE C
WEEKS ON CHART = 6
HIGHEST POSITION = "2"
AVERAGE = 1.76
One of the very first songs still charting in my chart at the beginning of January! I just loved her voice and how well the song carried itself. I still sing along to it even now. May have only lasted 6 weeks, but it made a very quick rise toward the top of the chart :)
85
LOVE YOU LIKE A LOVE SONG - SELENA GOMEZ & THE SCENE
WEEKS ON CHART = 48
HIGHEST POSITION = "2"
AVERAGE = 1.57
160 Million views on Youtube can't be wrong, can it?
It almost lasted a year before exiting my chart this year. Still catchy even now. Just shy of scoring the top spot, but it's strong run means it enters this chart at #85 :)
84
LOVE ACTUALLY - CADY GROVES
WEEKS ON CHART = 24
HIGHEST POSITION = "7"
AVERAGE = 1.81
This song hung around the top of the chart for quite a while, and gained quite a high average because of it. 24 weeks in and going strong.
"You know that it was really Love Actually- lo-uuuuu-ooooove actually!" :) :P
Love her voice and how catchy this song is. Also, she is quite hilarious in her posts on facebook :D Stunned that she's never released a proper music video for this, but it doesn't matter, cos it's all about the music! :)
83
ODE TO THE BOUNCER - STUDIO KILLERS
WEEKS ON CHART = 10
HIGHEST POSITION = 6
AVERAGE = 1.81
This was one of those songs that just got stuck in my head for a few weeks, and would not leave!
Not to say I hate it, because I found it quite amusing, enough to give it a peak of #6 toward the beginning of the year.
It has the same average as #84, but gains a spot higher based on points in the Top150 chart :)
lyric genius: "Bitch is clearly borderline, nose as wide as Snow White's" :D
82
PARLER A MON PERE - CELINE DION
WEEKS ON CHART = 15
HIGHEST POSITION = "7"
AVERAGE = 1.86
A non-English track! It was still good enough to make my chart.
I am a massive Celine fan from childhood, and had the pleasure of seeing her perform here live a few years back. She could sing me that alphabet and I'd probably chart it :D
When I translated the lyrics to this song, I had a closer touch of how special the lyrics were. Beautiful and respectful, just like Celine herself.
81
TRY - P!NK
WEEKS ON CHART = 12
HIGHEST POSITION = "5"
AVERAGE = 1.9
A lovely song with a beautiful, encouraging message. I guess the video clip may have helped a bit also, but it's just a great song. It's still in the current chart and doing well :)
P!nk claims number #81 for 2012 :)
80
ALL THIS WAY - AMANDA FONDELL
WEEKS ON CHART = 16
HIGHEST POSITION = "11"
AVERAGE = 1.9
She won Swedish Idol back in 2011, and I was introduced to this song by a friend of mine who us obsessed with all things Swedish. Usually he has a good taste, so I gave it a listen. I was hooked on the sultry voice and realised how encouraging this song truly was. Amanda Fondell scores #80 on the Year-End Averages chart ;D
79
MASTERPIECE - MADONNA
WEEKS ON CHART = 15
HIGHEST POSITION = "1"
AVERAGE = 1.92
Madonna went number 1 with this song last year on my chart, but still held on a further 15 weeks into 2012. Such a beautiful song from an amazing veteran of music in the world today.
One of the nicest love songs I've heard in a long time.
78
ONE THING - ONE DIRECTION
WEEKS ON CHART = 12
HIGHEST POSITION = "6"
AVERAGE = 1.94
In at #78 is 1D's second single to hit my chart this year! "One Thing" was one of those catchy songs that stuck around for a while. I enjoyed it and the rest of the world seemed to also :)
77
THE MUSIC WON'T BREAK YOUR HEART - STAN WALKER
WEEKS ON CHART = 8
HIGHEST POSITION = "14"
AVERAGE = 2.06
A top 15 hit for Stan Walker this year, it stayed around the top 20 or so for it's two-month run in 2012.
Stan has always been one of those surprise packages. Kind of New Zealand's answer to Jason Derulo, but of course a style of his own. This had a pretty cool video :)
76
WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU (STRONGER) - KELLY CLARKSON
WEEKS ON CHART = 7
HIGHEST POSITION = "1"
AVERAGE = 2.09
This had a few more weeks in the chart back in 2011, and hit the top, but still managed another 7 weeks into 2012, and therefore scores #76 this year!
I loved this song when I first heard it and it just got better and more popular. Having seen her live, I could definitely see why she's the original and the best.
75
NEXT TO ME - EMELI SANDE'
WEEKS ON CHART = 8
HIGHEST POSITION = 8
AVERAGE = 2.2
Well well, wasn't Emeli a surprise package in 2012!? Such a great powerful, controlled voice with great song choices as releases. This one stuck in my head for two months toward the beginning of the year. In at #75!
74
HELL YEAH - MIDNIGHT RED
WEEKS ON CHART = 15
HIGHEST POSITION = "10"
AVERAGE = 2.38
Who doesn't like a new good-looking boyband with their own dance-moves? Me, that's for sure!
I think I first read about this band on a music blog, and then I believe Bryan charted this song, and I gave it a listen, so I thank him for that :) It stuck around my chart for almost 4 months, and just scraped inside the top 10!
73
NEVER CLOSE OUR EYES - ADAM LAMBERT
WEEKS ON CHART = 15
HIGHEST POSITION = "4"
AVERAGE = 2.42
Adam's second entry in the Year End Av-chart this year! This one I preferred over "Better Than I Know Myself." It was catchy and his high-notes just get to me :) A top 5 hit!
72
FREE - GRAFFITI6
WEEKS ON CHART = 12
HIGHEST POSITION = "7"
AVERAGE = 2.47
Another song from the rear-end of 2011 that carried-over into 2012 on my chart. It took me a while to get into this one to tell the truth! I've since come to love it.
71
OURS - TAYLOR SWIFT
WEEKS ON CHART = 47
HIGHEST POSITION = "30"
AVERAGE = 2.5
A few of my fellow members on a forum I'm on were surprised to see this song still in my chart after so long! It only just scraped into the top 30, but I just couldn't get rid of it! 47 weeks attributes to that! It was a peaceful, nice, easy-listening song and throw-up-cutesy lyrics, and yep, I was hooked :)
70
GOT ME GOOD - CODY SIMPSON
WEEKS ON CHART = 22
HIGHEST POSITION = "11"
AVERAGE = 2.5
Beating Taylor on points, this was the first single from Cody that I realised how good he actually was and had a style of his own. Sure, he grew up 40 minutes from where I live and was seen as the Aussie version of you-know-who, but in reality, I see him as completely different. Loved this song, and still love it now.
69
#TOTDF - JONNY MCGOVERN
WEEKS ON CHART = 8
HIGHEST POSITION = "4"
AVERAGE = 2.52
I first heard this song on the radio would you believe? I'm not ashamed to admit it got stuck in my head and I play it loud whenever I hear it. I got slammed for giving it a #4 debut toward the beginning of 2012, but hey, when I hear a song I like, that's generally what happens. How ironic this tune get's this number's year end position!
lyrical genius: "Sendin' messages like a f***in champion!" - I love him! :D
68
ROCKSTAR - REECE MASTIN
WEEKS ON CHART = 12

What a beautiful song. The thing I love about doing this chart, is it gives me more of an idea of how high on the year-end chart a good song actually can be. Look at the difference!
Anyway, a relatively new song toward the end of 2012, this song grabbed my earbuds in an instant, with lovely lyrics! And just watching the above video, I like seeing how much fun they have making it. 39th favourite tune! :)

She came out with this tune about a quarter of the way into the year, with a cheeky video, and I certainly loved it. Hitting #13 on my main chart and top 40 in the average chart, as well as hitting the top spot for a week, Ricki-Lee claims #37 this year.

I wasn't the only one who fell in love with this song. Seeing gigs of his that had always sold out, I knew this guy was good. A top 10 year end hit for me, and #32 here. Well, this was clearly one of the biggest hits, worldwide, this year. One of my top 5 based on points AND top 30 here. It went number 1 back in 2011 for me, but still stuck around for pretty much the entire year! Great song, great boy-band.
29
MERRY GO ROUND - SUZIE MCNEIL
WEEKS ON CHART = 61
HIGHEST POSITION = "3"
AVERAGE = 6.67 MAIN CHART POSITION = 6
I have a habit of being loyal to songs that just won't go away, don't I? :D
Amazing song. The first I'd heard from Suzie McNeil also. Just something about it that really stuck in the musical enzymes of my brain and wouldn't let go :P To chart half-way throughout 2011 and leave toward the end of 2012 is just insane. #6 on the main chart and top 30 here for a song that is old now! :)
28
FLOWER - KYLIE MINOGUE
WEEKS ON CHART = 16
HIGHEST POSITION = "2"
AVERAGE = 7 MAIN CHART POSITION = 34
For a song that is well over three years old, it was surprising to hear that Kylie had decided to release this as a single. She did it because of the fan-reaction at her concerts (three of her tours I've attended now!) and I'm glad she did. It's a very different, but beautiful song to her first single release this year, and the storyline behind it is beautiful, yet heartbreaking. Lovely.
27
CALL YOUR GIRLFRIEND - ROBYN
WEEKS ON CHART = 65
HIGHEST POSITION = "2"
AVERAGE = 7.03 MAIN CHART POSITION = 9
My absolute ANTHEM of 2011, carried over into, of course, 2012.
My God I don't think I've ever had a song have this effect on me since Des'ree's "Life" back in the day :D 65 massive weeks before the song left my chart this year.
The message is simple and SO mature! Why people can't just realise this in life just amazes me. It'd save so, so much lessons in heartbreak. Thank-you Robyn!
Lyrical genius: "Call your girlfriend, say it's not her fault, tell your reasons..."
26

WEEKS ON CHART = 22

When I heard that The Veronicas were releasing a new single (another home-grown talent from my city), I spent ages hanging out to hear what it sounded like! I was so sad when I couldn't find it for weeks! :D
When I finally did, and liked it after a few listens, I then wanted to see the video. I can safely say I did not expect to see a video from them quite like this :D
Love it girls!

WEEKS ON CHART = 13
HIGHEST POSITION = "8"

"There's a ghost standing at the foot of my bed, and it's you..."
Beautiful tribute.
19
ROSEBUD - THE JEZEBELS
WEEKS ON CHART = 40 :o
HIGHEST POSITION = "3"
AVERAGE = 8.5 MAIN CHART POSITION = 16
I'm so glad this song won an ARIA at this year's event. This song had a massive effect on me this year, and one of the first I'd heard from The Jezebels. The longevity accounts for how much I loved it, plus a top 3 hit.
18
CATCH MY BREATH - KELLY CLARKSON
WEEKS ON CHART = 10
HIGHEST POSITION = "7"
AVERAGE = 8.57 MAIN CHART POSITION = 65
A fast riser on my chart this year! Kelly's latest single in 2012 shot up my chart quickly to claim the 18th best here! Because this song was in the later part of the year, she didn't gain as many points, but this chart shows where the song should be! :D
She's rarely had a bad song this girl, and this is her highest charting single in my chart this year, aside from "Dark Side" in the Main Chart.
Lyrical Genius: "You help me see the beauty in everything."
17
JOY AND PAIN - CHRIS RICHARDSON feat. TYGA
WEEKS ON CHART = 19

16
GIVE YOUR HEART A BREAK - DEMI LOVATO
WEEKS ON CHART = 50
HIGHEST POSITION = "4"
AVERAGE = 9.3 MAIN CHART POSITION = 11
What. A. Song.
This was what I heard was the follow-up to "Skyscraper", and I liked that song but I didn't love it - not like I did this one!
Amazing, amazing in every WAY! Top 20 for the year on both charts!
15
SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW - GOTYE feat. KIMBRA
WEEKS ON CHART = 25
HIGHEST POSITION = "1"
AVERAGE = 9.71 MAIN CHART POSITION = 2
This song hit number 1 quite a few times back in 2011, and re-turned to hit the top on January 30th this year, for another week. It was one of those world-wide hits that I think pretty much everyone can relate to! The lyrics pose a lot of questions that I just want to scream at some people!
My second biggest song in the main chart.
14
DON'T YOU WORRY CHILD - SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA
WEEKS ON CHART = 4
HIGHEST POSITION = "4"
AVERAGE = 10 MAIN CHART POSITION = 93
So sad this band has called it quits. Such a great clubbing anthem. Only been in my chart for four weeks, as I was slow to catch on, but to gain this high of a year-end chart position shows how much I love it :)
13
CALL ME MAYBE - CARLY RAE JEPSEN
WEEKS ON CHART = 55
HIGHEST POSITION = "1"
AVERAGE = 10.19 MAIN CHART POSITION = 1
When I first heard this song and saw the video toward the end of 2011, it had just over 4000 views. It now holds over 371 Million...
The song took an instant hit with me, and went to the top of my chart last year. Then Justin Bieber found it and made the song giGANTIC.
Rightfully so, it deserved it. This song spent another 14weeks at number 1 on my chart this year!
Longevity is what's given it a lower number in the Average's chart, but still an amazing song and my favourite of 2012 in the main chart.
Wow, that means 12 songs beat both Carly-Rae Jepsen and Gotye/Kimbra!
12
WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER - TAYLOR SWIFT
WEEKS ON CHART = 19
HIGHEST POSITION = "2"
AVERAGE = 10.37 MAIN CHART POSITION = 20
This song just took off like a rocket, didn't it? People were on it like sh*t on toilet paper!
I was one of those people, admittedly. It's cheesy, it's catchy, it's Taylor bitching about another failed relationship, and it works!! My #12 song this year!
11
OATH - CHER LLOYD feat. BECKY G
WEEKS ON CHART = 12
HIGHEST POSITION = "4"
AVERAGE = 11.1 MAIN CHART POSITION = 26
A good year for Ms. Cher Lloyd! In at #11 is "Oath"! This position surprised me when it came up after everything was added up, but hey, the figures don't lie! She looks smokin' in this video as well!!

I love how it's sort of club-by as well :) Then the long-holding notes toward the end whoa!!

Kylie kind of surprised me with this release all of a sudden! I wasn't expecting it at all, but I guess I wasn't keeping an eye out. What a huge hit it turned out to be for me! It spent 4 weeks at the top of my chart between June and July, and returned again to the top at the end of July for a fifth week. This song, video and incredible remixes made this a huge hit for me this year :)

BEST NIGHT - JUSTICE CREW
WEEKS ON CHART = 6
HIGHEST POSITION = "3"

2
REMEMBER WHEN (PUSH REWIND) - CHRIS WALLACE
WEEKS ON CHART = 27
HIGHEST POSITION = "1"
AVERAGE = 13.44 MAIN CHART POSITION = 4
It's hard to tell if this truly is my favourite song of the year, since it's claimed #4 on the main, and #2 here. Either way, such an incredible find of music this year and just grabbed me, threw me in the water, drowned me and revived me to listen to it some more.
